Job Description

A reputable and established Family Office is seeking a Financial Accountant for an in-office 3-6 month fixed-term contract to provide accounting, operational, and administrative support to the Finance Team. The duties and responsibilities are currently shared among the finance team, and the successful candidate will assist across a range of these functions to ensure smooth financial operations and reporting.


Responsibilities: 

Processing and recording transactions in Sage and Microsoft Dynamics
Preparing and sending invoices
Performing relevant reconciliations including bank, GL, and creditors through to payment
Payments loading and processing – including foreign currency
Preparing and understanding journal entries
Preparing and reporting on VAT returns in e-filing
Producing trial balance for management account reporting
Petty cash management and reconciliation
Assistance on banking administration (forms, liaising with the bank on new users, change requests)
Collation and reconciliation of information for credit card expenses and other personal expenses
Maintaining and updating fixed assets register
Provide source documents to auditors (invoices, credit notes etc.) during the year-end audit process.
Assist with preparation of SA Reserve Bank schedules
Assistance with schedules for the annual budgeting process
Assist with insurance renewals
Preparation of ad-hoc expense analyses (e.g. for building committee, tax purposes, review by seniors).
Updating relevant finance schedules including travel, carbon footprint, cellphone usage and IT recharges
Liaison with and managing external service providers in terms of statements, invoicing and credit notes
Liaison with Cosec (Internal and External) on changes in company, cosec documents, collating of information for registers such as Ultimate
Beneficial Owner, changes to directorships, etc.
Assistance with preparation of the rental schedule calculation and updating rental addendums
Collation and electronic filing of all agreements
Assisting Head of Finance with collation of financial information in the community for review such as:
o AFS
o Cash forecasts (4 monthly)
o Quarterly management accounts
o Dashboards


Requirements


Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience as a Financial Accountant
  • Relevant tertiary qualification, B.Com Accounting preferable
  • Strong administration/clerical and coordination experience
  • Sage 300 and Microsoft Dynamics experience
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping processes


Personal Attributes and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Outlook and MS Office, (especially Excel and Word)
  • Exposure to Sage 300 and Microsoft Dynamics
  • Highly numerate
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • High emotional intelligence
  • Highly organised with strong administration skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must be a self-motivated individual who takes initiative
